Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman returned to India on 1st march 2019.
Pakistan Army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa’s legs were shaking as Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi told in a meeting that India will attack Pakistan if Abhinandan Abhinandan Varthaman is not released. So, we have to release him.
Abhinandan was held captive in pakistan as his aircraft was shot down by a Pakistani Fighter Jet during a dogfight. Before getting there, he shot down an Pakistani aircraft.
Qureshi said that if Pakistan does not release wing commander Abhinandan then India is planning to attack Pakistan at 9 PM on 27th February 2019.
During that time, you may have seen many videos. In some viral videos, Abhinandan Varthaman was seen assaulted by soldiers in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. In some videos, the Goodwill Gesture of Pakistani authorities can be seen where he was having tea with these authorities who was talking with him in a polite way. They were showing respect for Abhinandan.
Air chief Marshal Dhanoa told news agency ANI that we will definitely get wing commander Abhinandan Varthaman back. We will do all possible efforts to bring him back.
The main pressure on Pakistan was of Geneva Convention but they Pakistan was also afraid that India will surely attack them if they did something wrong with IAF Pilot.
Later on 1st March 2019, on the evening the IAF Pilot was released through Attari-Wagah Border and after some medical checkups, he finally came back to India. After recovering from some minor injuries, he again resumed his service after 6 months.
He was also awarded Gallantry Award Vir Chakra on the Independence day by President Ram Nath Kovind for his bravery. He remained strong during all this incident and he was very confident when he was held in Pakistan. He didn’t reveal any of the sensitive information.
Pakistan decided to release Wing Commander Abhinandan on 28th February 2019 as a Gesture of Peace.
